Study Finds More Than 70% of University Students & Educators Face Considerable Discrimination
The Study
A study by the Institute for the Understanding of Anti-Palestinian Racism (IUAPR) has uncovered alarming rates of discrimination against students and educators who support Palestinian human rights including silencing, harassment, physical threat or harm or defamation, or experiencing considerable emotional and/or physical health effects.
Key Findings
66% of students & 69% of educators
Reported experiencing physical threat or harm, or defamation from teachers, faculty, and administrators while advocating for Gaza and/or supporting Palestinian human rights .
75% of students & 79% of educators
Reported negative emotional and/or physical health impacts such as insomnia, loss of appetite, isolation, fear and hypervigilance.

of respondents experienced anti-Palestinian racism either directly or online.
74%
of respondents felt alone or isolated in their concern about Palestinian human rights and 87.9% of respondents had witnessed others experiencing anti-Palestinian racism either directly or online.
63%
of respondents reported experiencing silencing, exclusion, harassment, physical threat or harm, or defamation while advocating for Gaza and/or Palestinian human rights.
Over Half
55.3% of respondents were afraid to speak out about what is happening to Palestinians in Gaza or for Palestinian human rights in general.
